Introduction

How much are the people of the past like me?

This is a question that if often asked by people reading history, or looking at an old work of art. The city of Pompeii has been able to answer this question for us in regards to the Roman world. Pompeii was stopped in time on August 24, 79 A.D. when it was covered by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

Everything that people lived with and enjoyed would be waiting for a new generation to discover it. In this WebQuest you will be able to step back in time and become a key player in the last years of Pompeii as you design a home for a Roman Senator and his family. You will review the different tastes in Roman art as well as what items were in a Roman house. In doing so you will find that these people were very much like us.
