Students will create egg crate catterpillar and butterfly.

Students will have painted the egg crate the desired color.  Students will have painted the egg crate the desired color and will have assembled the pipe cleaner antennae and wiggle eyes. Students will have painted the egg crate and will have assemble the pipe cleaner antennae and wiggle eyes. Students will also have attached the butterfly wings to the second egg crate. Student will construct the craft as described before and will also demonstrate knowledge that the caterpillar turns into a butterly.

 

 

Students will demonstrate knowledge of butterfly symetry.

Student will point out symetrical features of butterflies in a butterfly picture book. Student will notice that the butterfly that is to be crafted has symetrical properties. Student will color both sides of the butterfly to look the same. Student will color both sides of the butterfly to look at the same and also construct the butterfly on a craft stick. Student will be able to explain verbally why both sides are identical.

 

Student will observe butterfly habitat and complete science journal page.
Student makes observations at butterly habitat station. Student notices that there is a difference between each section of the habitat. Student is able to demonstrate that he or she understands that the life cycle process is occuring in the habitat.  Student illustrates each part of the life cycle process as seen in the butterly habitat.

 

 

Student copies sentences from the board in book and makes title page.

A cover page is included with student's name. Student has cover page that has name on it. Sentences are copied on each page.  Student  has cover page with name and illustration. Student has also accurately copied sentecnces from the board. Student demonstrates knowledge by illustrating each page to match the proper sentence.
