Teacher Process
School rosters vary; therefore, I have not listed what should be accomplished each day. Neverthless, the web quest format is, hopefully, self explanatory. Please look under "Teacher Resources" for copies of the rubrics and "Write on Rights" student materials.
The web quest may take from 1 - 2 weeks depending on the length of each class, how often the class meets, and students' prior knowledge about and comfort with the issues and skills required for the web quest. If students are unfamiliar with each other, the process, self assessment, group assessment, and formal letter writing, it may take an additional week. Since there are links in Spanish and English to enable students to do research in either language, this may also increase the time requirement.
The Wiki/Blog is an on-going project that may last a semester or a year. The project might also be extended by joining a network such as iEarn. iEearn is a non-profit global network. Teachers and youth communicate with the use of the Internet to collaborate on projects that "enhance learning and make a difference in the world."
