In this WebQuest, you will create a new room and draw it to scale. First, you will need to understand scale factors, ratios, and proportions. Next, you get to go shopping for furniture that will fit into your room (without going over budget). Finally, you will present your room (to scale) with all your new furniture and decorations inside. Use your imagination and have fun!

Teacher Introduction

Are your students struggling with scale drawings?  Are they constantly asking, "why do I need to know this?"  Do you want to teach them how scale drawings connect to their lives?  This webquest does just that and more.  Not only will students learn how to create scale drawings, they will also work within a budget to shop for furniture.

This webquests asks students to use their exsisting room and bed to create a scale drawing.  The decorations and furniture (besides the bed) can be anything they want, as long as they do not excede the spending limit of $1,000.00.  They will keep an itemized list of their spending, practice online with ratios and scale, and create a perfect scale drawing of their dream room!
