You and your friends are ready for the challenge. First the group should Investigate about hot air balloons.
Each of you will choose a job, gather the information needed and then report back to your group. Time to prepare for the race.

1. Each person in your group should report their findings. Discuss any changes or alterations that the group may want. Remember that you want to have the shortest route, but need to live through the race.
2. Together complete the final log for your travel plans. You may use this log if you choose. Recalculate the total miles if the Navigator's plan has been changed.
3. Calculate the total amount of money you will spend for the race. Be sure to include all balloon and food costs.
4. Calculate the amount of time that your balloon will travel. hint: the balloon will travel an average of 10 miles per hour.
5. Create a world map showing your travel plans. The world map must include:
- land on each continent at least once,
- locate the cities and countries where you will land
- calculate the miles between each point.
Now it is time for your trip. Your travels will produce a wealth of information.
Let the journey begin.
After you have completed your investigation, share your findings with your group. This information will be used by each person in their journal.

load up the basket with supplies, blow up the balloon, and lift off.
Journey Journal: Write a journal about your exciting trip. You may use Word, PowerPoint, or any other media in which to write your journal. The journal should tell about your adventures and interesting sites for each continent. Use the information gathered by your team within each entry. Each entry should include the following:
- Date - which progresses with your flying calculations
- name of the continent, city, country
- people you have met,
- animals you have seen,
- and a place of interest.
