First, students will research different groups of animals on the Web. Next, the students will analyze their research while they create a create a persuasive essay about the similarities or differences they found between humans and animals. Finally, the students will present their research while they read their essay to the rest of the class.
Teacher Introduction
I created this lesson for four reasons:
- To familiarize students with the context and character behavions in the novel How I Live Now.
- To motivate students to interpret and connect ideas between this novel and internet research.
- To lead students into a synthesis of numerous web research sites with different formats.
- To provide students with an opportunity to practice writing a persuasive essay and speaking in public.
