Learners

This project is designed for middle school students.  The standards are focused on social studies for eighth grade, but it can be modified for students in fifth grade as well.  At the same time, this is a great unit to do for any middle school student during black history month.  It can also tie into language arts because students have to write a journal describing their journey through the Underground Railroad. 

 This lesson can be expanded on for background information to a lesson or unit about the Civil War.
