Process
1. First, as a class, we are going to discuss the different stages of the life cycle of a butterfly.
2. Then you will be assigned a partner. You and your partner will create a chart to organize your observations of a caterpillar, cocoon, and butterfly. This should be created either using Microsoft Word or Excel.
3. Once you have designed your chart, print it.
4. Finally, you will use your chart to document at least 5 observations of the caterpillar, cocoon, and butterfly.
Things to consider before creating your poster:
- How many stages does a butterfly go through? What are the names of the different stages?
- How do you want to organize your information on your chart? Do you want to use a list, or another type of graphic organizer?
- What do you need pictures of?
- How many pictures do you need?

To show what you have learned through this lesson, you are going to work with your partner to create a poster that shows the life cycle of a butterfly. Your poster should have:
- A clear title for your overall poster
- A label for each of the different stages
- Characteristics for each stage- using your observations you made earlier
- At least one picture for each stage
