Teacher Process
This webquest will probably take three to five days to complete, depending on your class size and period length.
Step 1. takes place in a
computer lab in one or two class periods. You will need to group
your students according to the three expert areas. Remind your students to take notes, and to look for the carefully at the photographs and Jacob Lawrence's art. The captions contain a lot of information, and in many cases, all the information needed can be found here.
Step 2. takes place in your
classroom, during one class period or less. Try to introduce your students to the jigsaw technique before they participate in the webquest.
Step 3. takes place in your classroom. Plan on using one class period or less. It may be possible to combine step 2 and step 3. Review the information about arriving at a consensus with your students.
Step 4. takes place in your
classroom. Guide your students to read
the rubric before they begin drafting their letter so they know what
they will be accountable for. Plan on using at least one class period for students to draft and write the final copies of their letters.
