Teacher Process
Teacher Process:
As the instructor you will guide your students through several lessons on phonics and phonemic awarness.
1. Introduce the concept in a variety of ways: kwl, brainstorming, guided reading practice. Whatever works best for you.
2. Don't worry about who knows what right now. Yes, some students will say, "I already know this" but remember that our jobs are not based on what they know, it's based on what they don't know. So in the beginning, assume that everyone needs this.
3. After about 2 weeks of mini-lessons, you will be able to construct your reading groups based on the knowledge you have gained from the evaluation and assessments of the mini-lessons.
4. These are lessons that must be taught all year long. You won't spend as much time on them as the year goes on, but always revisit the concepts to make sure the struggling students are progressing and the on task students have not lost any ground.
