Kansas State Standards 

Science Standard  3: Life Science – The student will develop an understanding of the cell, molecular basis of heredity, biological evolution,interdependence of organisms, matter, energy, and organization in living systems, and the behavior of organisms.

Benchmark 4: The student will understand the interdependence of organisms and their interaction with the physical environment.

Science Standard 7: History and Nature of Science – The student will develop understanding of science as a human endeavor, the nature of scientific knowledge, and historical perspectives.

Benchmark 1: The student will develop an understanding that science is a human endeavor that uses models to describe and explain the physical universe.

Benchmark 2: The student will develop an understanding of the nature of scientific knowledge.

Benchmark 3: The student will understand science from historical perspectives.

History Standard: The student uses a working knowledge and understanding of significant individuals, groups, ideas, events, eras, and developments in the history of Kansas, the United States, and the world, utilizing essential analytical and research skills.

Benchmark 4: The student uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals, groups, ideas, developments, and turning points of the World Since 1945.
