They will research obesity causes and consequences and then rewrite their menu to reflect the dietary guidelines. They will determine the calories saved by the healthier menu and the length of time it will take to lose 10 lbs. Teams will present their revised menu to their classmates.

Teacher Introduction

Teens love fast food and won't stop eating it just because you tell them it's bad for them. Why not let them discover for themselves the calories, total fat, saturated fat, sodium, fiber and percentage of saturated fat in their favorite foods?  This WebQuest allows students to discover the problems with fast foods and then revise their menus to reflect healthier choices. Causes and consequences of obesity are included.  The U.S. Dietary Goals are reviewed.
