Task

Your first task will be to research the problem of slave labor in the production of chocolate. To do this you will need to read the online articles. You may also check out books from the library, or read magazine articles.

Your second task is to  learn about Ivory Coast, a country that produces a great deal of the cocoa beans that go into making chocolate for the rest of the world. You will need to create a map of Ivory Coast for a presentation that your group will be making.

Your third task is to  create a presentation that can be used to educate other people about the issue. You may want to use a PowerPoint presentation, a display board or poster board.

Your fourth task will be to write a persuasive letter that you may send to a newpaper, or to a company which makes chocolate. If you want to send a letter to a chocolate company, you should first visit that company's website to learn about their policies regarding slave labor in the production of chocolate. In your letter you will be urging the company to only use cocoa beans that were gathered without the use of slave labor.
