Teacher Process
This project will require a two to three week block of time to complete.
1. Students will need to have some knowledge about the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World and what makes them unique. Information can be found in videos, documentaries, library books, or on the Web.
2. Divide class into teams of three and assign their jobs.
3. Give students a list of Wonders and allow groups to choose which Wonder they would like to research. Each team should make three choices to eliminate duplication.
4. Distribute student forms necessary for the project:
a/ Job description;
b/ Project research form (with questions and research notes);
c/ Research rubrics (individual and group);
d/ Process description;
e/ PowerPoint slideshow;
f/ Product list.
5. Introduce the Webquest and give an overview of the research.
6. Students do an independent research and record information. You might want to visit the websites (Travelocity and Google maps) to check how these sites will work with the Wonders that your students chose. Some countries, such as China, do not allow students to view a detailed political map of their territory. Some sites, such as Natural Wonders, are located in remote areas which makes it difficult to find directions for transportation. Navigators may need teacher's help.
7. Students write reports based on their job task.
8. Students share information with team members and create a PowerPoint presentation.
9. Students create a group souvenir.
10. Students present their oral report, PowerPoint slideshow, and explain their choice of souvenir to the class.
