Examining the different aims of the GMD and the CPP: Task

Task

Imagine you are an educated scholar with nationalist ideals in China. You have to decide between joining the KMT or the CCP to help change the political situation in China for the better.

In coming up with your decision, you have to do the following:

write a diary entry comparing the two parties especially in terms of their aims;
in the same entry, write about what are your thoughts of a possible alliance between these two parties (eg: is it necessary? would it work out? if yes, why? if not, why?)
Draw up a table to show the differences (and/or similarities) in aims of the two parties clearly.

Keep in mind that the diary entry must be factually/historically accurate and that special attention must be paid to parallelism (comparison/points of similarity)between the two parties. You should carefully look through the evaluation page for the rubrics.

The diary should be typed written in font sized 12 and between 200-500 words.

The table can be drawn up using Microsoft Word by clicking 'Insert' then click 'Table'.

This assignment is due on 24th January 2007. Please print it out and hand in to your history reps.

A vote will be held during lesson time to see which party you have chosen to join.
