Students will take on the role of an epidemiologist. They will then pick a disease and investigate characteristics of the disease. Once the student or groups of students are experts on their disease, they will construct an emergency preparedness plan for their community as a proactive measurement to a crisis. The plan will be presented in a professional, organized, and creative manner.

This webquest is geared towards high school Biology students. The webquest will take no more than a week, depending on how much out of class time students spend. Students would benefit form this webquest after a lesson/unit on microorganisms. This webquest will give students a deeper look at contagious diseases, and open their eyes to present day fears of bioterrorism. Many higher-level thinking discussions could steam from this webquest.
