Teacher Process
Class #1
- Introduce the video to students. Provide them with paper and
pencil so that they may write down the name of three of the
provinces/territories in order of preference for their project.
- Watch the video, collect student choices.
- After class, review their choices and determine student teams and
provinces. Students will be working together for 10-12 weeks so be
thoughtful about partners.
Class #2
- Inform students of their partner and their assigned province or territory.
- Introduce the idea of a webquest.
- Open the webquest site and begin looking at the task.
- Pass out the note taking handout and review with students.
- Review the rubric with students.
- Create work folders on computers or on network as available.
- Review the Process with students.
- Give a guideline in terms of assembling data. Students should assemble two slides worth of data per class.
- Review the requirements for citing sources.
- Students begin assembling their information for each slide, noting sources.
- Review the elements of an effective PowerPoint presentation with students.
- Review basic PowerPoint commands and tools.
- Give students a guideline in terms of entering data. Students should complete three slides per class.
- Students begin entering their data into PowerPoint.
- Review the elements of an effective oral presentation with students.
- Students present.
