Task
The goal of this web-quest is for you and your class to become familiar with the country of Peru so that your new classmate will feel at home during the "Evening in Peru"celebrations. Your group will do some mapping, village designing, animal searching, farming, and lifestyle comparisons.
Your group will consist of:
Cartographer: As a cartographer, you will be responsible for providing the group with information on Peru and its location. You will replicate a map of Peru using colour and labels. A special focus will be on the Andes Mountians.
Engineer: As an engineer, you will be responsible for designing a Spanish Village, similar to the one that your new classmate is from. In doing so, you must include the terms cuadra, plaza and quinta. You will have to brush up on your Math skills for this challenge.
Animal Expert: As an animal expert, your job is to track down some of the animals that are found in Peru. For this quest, your main focus will be on those animals found in the Mountains, but you can also look at some other common animals in Peru. Are these animals common in Newfoundland?
Agriculture Expert: As an agriculture expert, you will be responsible for determining which crops are commonly grown in Peru and why those particular crops are chosen. You will develop a menu for the party using these foods as ingredients. You may have to double up on your recipe!
Community Reporter: As a reporter, you will be the eyes and ears of your group. You will take your group into a typical home found in Peru. You will also take your group to some of the many sites and attrations in Peru. Lifestyles are quite different!
