Teacher Process
PREPARATION
- Set up a fraction exploration center that reinforces the concepts using manipulatives.
- Set up a book publishing center that includes the following materials
- glue
- scissors
- many sizes, colors, and weights of paper
- string, ribbon, etc.
- Preselect groups of three to balance students' math abilities, creativity, and organizational skills. These will be the design teams.
Day 1
Have students work with fraction circle pieces and compare equivalencies between halves, fourths, and eighths.
Day 2 and beyond
Watch and support as needed!
