Task

Part of understanding history is to understand the important contributions made by African Americans. You and one of your classmates will learn about the life and legacy of an important African American figure or about an important event in American History. To learn about this important figure or event your group will explore web sites, videos, and any resource you can get your hands on.
You and your partner have a task to complete. Your task is to put together a quilt piece containing the information that you collect on the African American figure or event that you choose. Your presentation must be neat, creative, and colorful.
It is important to make your quilt patch interesting. Be sure to include these things in your presentation.
- Who this presentation is about
- What this person did to become important/ What made this event important
- When this person was alive/ When this event took place
- Where these events were happening
- Why it was important
- How the person or event effected the African American movement to freedom and equality
- A picture in the middle of the quilt patch that describes the information written around the sides of the patch.
Remember these helpful hints:
- You must use colored pencils
- You may write in bullets instead of paragraph form
- Follow directions on how to construct your quilt patch
- Make sure all spelling is correct
- Be NEAT with your writing and coloring
