Students develop a full understanding of the theatre of Shakespeare's day in order to form their own theatrical company, select an appropriate scene to rewrite and update in their own vernacular and experience, and finally produce a video of their performance of the adapted material for presentation.

Dear Fellow Educators,

The arts and in particular the performing arts can be an exciting way to integrate core curriculum and create an authentic learning experience for your students. This WebQuest is designed to cross curricular boundaries and foster deep learning through a hands-on experience that involves the Renaissance, Elizabethan England, and the life and works of William Shakespeare. In additon, there is a creative writng component since students will also be working toward the completion of a project that involves creatively rewriting a Shakespearean scene or play by updating the setting and language into our modern vernacular and creating their own performance video of their work. Whether your field is drama, language arts, or history, this WebQuest project offers an exciting learning opportunity for your students.
