A WebQuest about the historical account of the transcontinental railroad construction for 4th grade students.

Teacher Introduction

     This webquest is designed for 4th graders.  Students will engage in an interactive race from the Central Pacific Railroad Museum web site to learn about historical facts of the railroad construction. 

     Students will be put in teams of four and each team will be assigned one of the two rival railroad companies to participate in the web race.  There will be two tasks for students to complete while navigating and competing in the race.  In the first task, each team will gather information about their railroad company, organize the data and make a poster to present in class.  In the second task, each team will retrace key events and people to draw a timeline and present in class.
