A WebQuest about the historical account of the transcontinental railroad construction for 4th grade students.

Introduction

In 1862 Abraham Lincoln signs the Pacific Railway Act to build the transcontinental railroad.  For the longest time, it takes months to travel from coast to coast.  Mind that it is a dangerous journey!

Two rival railroad companies, Central Pacific and Union Pacific) are recruiting able and adventurous young men and young ladies to join their team to participate in the construction with an ambitious deadline.

Should you choose to join either company,  you must persevere and work hard with little food and sleep till your company finishes first in the race.  And you are to find out 'Who will win? Central Pacific versus Union Pacific'.
