Part 1: Researching and Understanding Puerto Rico

You will need to download the page of questions you will be answering about Puerto Rico.  The questions will guide your research and get you thinking about Puerto Rico.  Twenty percent of your grade will depend on the quality of the answers that you give to these questions, so take the time to answer them in a complete and detailed manner.

Download the questions here:  Puerto Rico Webquest Questions

Use the following webpages to guide you in finding answers to the questions, and remember that we only have one period of computer lab time to complete this portion of the project.  Use your time wisely, because anything that you do not finish in class will need to be done outside of class.

Part 2: Demonstrating Your Understading of Puerto Rico

In the second phase of this project, you are required to choose one of the following five options.  You will be given one day of class time to work on your project, but the rest of the time needed to complete the project will have to be on your own.

The first thing you should do is look over your project choices:

Puerto Rico Shirt:  Take an actual t-shirt and decorate it with fabric paints or markers.  It should directly reflect one or more aspects of Puerto Rican culture and should be attractive to look at.

Puerto Rico Pamphlet:  Use Microsoft Publisher or another program to create a tri-fold pamphlet on Puerto Rico.  Include pictures and information about Puerto Rico, it's culture, and it's people.

Puerto Rico Travel Poster:  This should be a small poster featuring images of Puerto Rico and information about it.  It should be attractive and should entice travellers to visit.  It should be laminated or mounted on construction paper.

Puerto Rico Rico Map: This map must be drawn by hand and should fill an entire sheet of paper.  It should feature all of the major cities, land masses, bodies of water, and places of interest.  It should be in color, be attractive, and should be laminated or mounted on construction paper.  Do not do this project on the computer!

Puerto Rico Test:  If you are not interested in doing a project and would prefer instead to take a test on Puerto Rico, you may choose to do so.  There will be a true/false section, a short answer section, and one essay question on the test.
