Teacher Resources

In order to implement this webquest effectively, the first resource you need is access to appropriate computer technology. The computers need: the speed; memory capacity; and internet access to be able to run movie files in real time. You will also need access to a computer with a movie editing program that can convert movie files to digital format such as Microsoft Moviemaker.

You will need access to a video camera that will allow download to a pc and a hand held microphone that will connect to the camera.

There are a number of big books that can add value to this learning experience. These include:

Little penguin, Slippy the seal and Wally the whale are three very good friends who love playing games. This is the story of what happens when two of the friends decide to play together leaving the other friend to feel very left out.

William, the new boy at school, has it in for Jane from the moment he appears. It seems as though the only way she can escape him is to take her cat Furlong's secret path home, along the wall, into the unknown... (source: http://www.education.tas.gov.au/mediacollection/bigbooks/ ).

Other Big Books or Plays are:

The Mean Giant by Jill McDougall and Grant Wilson; and

Plays to Value by Bruce Shearer-

It includes 'Herbert' the friendly ogre and explores the issues of bullying and peer pressure. It raises questions of individuality, standing up for your beliefs, trusting intuition, antisocial behaviour and passive resistance. Students gain insight into the importance of being responsible for one's own actions.

Other resources will vary depending on the stories the groups create. You may need costumes, props and makeup.
