Students learn about French famous people and practice the use of past tense. After doing the reasearch, they will write a magazine article and do an oral presentation to the class.

Teacher Introduction

This lesson was first designed for 9th graders learning the Passé Composé. It was then extended to 10th graders and used to compare Passé Composé and Imparfait while learning about the culture of France.

It is possible for the students to work with a partner if they want to.

At the end of the project, it is possible to "publish" the magazine by making copies of all the articles and turning it into a little booklet for the students to keep. They could later add to it with famous persons who are still alive. It can also be used to test the students on all the famous persons used in the project.
