Teacher Process
Since this is the first time I will be working with a WebQuest, I have not developed a sense of how long it will take the students to complete. Our school is on block scheduling with Monday being a manic day where all classes meet 42 minutes and then meet 90 minutes per day on Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday. I'm hoping the students will be able to complete this History of Photography WebQuest, including their presentations, in 6 to 8 class sessions. My classroom is a computer lab so each student will have access to a PC computer with Internet access and laser printer. Each student has access to their own student drive. For each student to bring their work together with the group, I'm hoping the school's technology department will create a folder that students can all drop their work into and access it as a group. If not I plan to use small flash drives to pull work together. They will present using the teacher computer, projector and mimio.
Completed the WebQuest in my 2006 fall semester Digital Photography class. The WebQuest was introduced on Monday (42 minutes). On Tuesday (90 minutes) the students began the process section working in their groups to organize how they wanted to work, roles to take on, etc. On Thursday, (90 minutes), students finalized the research and worked on their PowerPoint presentation. The following week, Monday (42 minutes) students perfected their presentation, by practicing and deciding which member presented each piece of information. Tuesday, (90 minutes) students presented their information to their classmates. WebQuest took approximately 6 hours to complete.
After completing the webquest another change was to adjust the dates. There is not much information in the prior 1800s. Adjustments were made to set the dates as follows: prior 1800s, 1800-1850, 1850-1900, 1900-1950, & 1950 to present day.
