Discussing the role of women being treated as objects in the story "House on Mango Street" by Sandra Cisneros.
"If I were asked what it is I write about, I would have to say I write about those ghosts inside that haunt me, that will not let me sleep, of that which even memory does not like to mention."
As we learn about Esperanza in "The House on Mango Street," we see her struggle to be an independent, successful Mexican-American woman, which was not common during this period of time. Many of the women in the story are treated as "objects" rather than respectable human beings. In this webquest, you will look at women's rights, how things have changed and how they can still improve for the future.
