In this lesson students will act as journalists who are traveling to a planet in our Solar System to report its inner workings. Once they have completed their visit and research they will return to Earth to create models and travel brochures of the planet.

Teacher Introduction

Traveling to the Solar System is now an affordable quest.  Students will be excited to explore the solar system and invite others to visit the places they learned about.  This WebQuest is designed to help your students develop an understanding of the Solar System and the planets within the Solar System.  Students will use the Webquest both as a means to research our solar system and as a guide to create a travel brochure for their assigned portion of the solar system.  Students will be able to use their imagination and creativity to think about what it might be like to visit other parts of the solar system.  Additionally, they will be able to apply research skills to find facts about the solar system.  This will enable them to develop an accurate brochure sharing the information they have compiled through research.  Your students will create a space station as a finished product to display their brochure, information and model of a planet, moon, star, or galaxy.  Enjoy your visit to the solar system found in your classroom.
