Task

In order to help Mr. Pennypincher buy his farm you will need to perform research so that you are able to give him the very best advice possible. Please make sure you complete each task below.

Task 1: Gather information about the three geographical regions of Utah. Learn about soil types, climate, precipitation, length of growing season, and what types of plant life can thrive in the areas. (Be able to explain how to identify the three types of Utah soils to Mr. Pennypincher.) Decide on a crop for Mr. Pennypincher to grow.You must tell what crop to plant and why it will be successful.

Task 2: Choose one of the geographical areas of Utah. Use the information that you have gathered to support why you think that Mr. Pennypincher would find success in growing the crop you chose in this geographical area. You must tell Mr. Pennypincher where to grow his crop and why it will be successful there.

Task 3: Brainstorm with your group what would be involved in buying and operating a farm. What costs would be involved to get started (up front costs)? What ongoing costs would there be?
