Learners

This WebQuest is intended for students in sixth grade and higher studying volcanoes and their effects.  However, it could be adapted for use at other levels at the teacher's discretion.

Learners will need plenty of time on the Internet to visit the sites of the various resource materials and the volcanoes they choose to study, as well as time to collaborate and create.

They should have good working knowledge of and access to a multimedia presentation tool, such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Star Office 8 Impress.

They also need to be able to create maps, either by hand to be scanned, or using a graphics application.  At teacher discretion, they may be permitted to use images captured from Google Earth (see resources) as the basis for their maps.

Finally, they should be able to create graphs and charts, preferably using a spreadsheet or similar application.

See Teacher Process for more information on equipment and possible adaptations.
