Task

Enough is Enough! America Declares

War on Germany

At 8:30 on the evening of April 2, 1917, President Wilson asked Congress for a declaration of war to make the world "safe for democracy."America is going to war and it is up to you to find out what life was like 'Over there." To accomplish your task you will have to return to the trenches and battlefields of WWI. If you are bold and fear naught, you may choose to work individually. Those who dread the perils of war may choose to work in pairs or in small groups--remember, there is safety in numbers!

  • Your mission is to travel back to the years 1914 to 1918 and research life in the trenches.
  • You may choose to be either a German, American, British or French soldier, or a woman in combat.
  •  Answer the questions and write your war diary entries.
