The range of perspectives will help to enrich our understanding of this influential period in twentieth century history, at the same time equipping us with the skill of evaluating perspectives, an important component of 'A' Level History.

 
Are these perspectives final? Not quite. The history of the Cold War did not end with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. In fact, the end of the Cold War brought about the revelation of new never-before-seen evidence and materials previously jealously guarded by both sides.

With the lifting off of the cloud of suspicion, hostility and tension, there has been renewed enthusiasm in reviewing the history of the Cold War. Historians are now able to offer more nuanced interpretations of Cold War events, and the post-post revisionist perspective on the beginning of the Cold War is just taking off...
