Task

What You Will Accomplish

This WebQuest has been designed to make connections between the classroom, the learners (that's you), the Web, greater social issues, and your artwork. The goal has been to create lessons that make good use of the web, engage learners in applying higher level thinking to authentic problems, and use everyone's time well.

Through the activities in this WebQuest, you will develop an understanding of the relationship between social commentary and the Visual Arts.  You will begin to explore this relationship in your own work, and to incorporate intelligent social commentary into art projects. 

You will acquire knowledge of some of the world's leading Visual Artists of social commentary.   You will replicate an image created by one of these leading artists, and be able to identify the artist's intended social statement.

At the end of this module, you will create a series of artworks through which there is a discernable message of social commentary or criticism.
