Teacher Introduction

Goals and Context

Through the activities in this WebQuest, students will explore the relationships between the arts, social commentary and the global environment.  Students will make efforts to increase their understanding of the significant role that some artists choose to play in raising public awareness about global concerns such as the environment and our climate crisis, sustainability, human rights, politics and values.  The over-arching goal is to explore this relationship in their own work, and to incorporate intelligent social commentary into art projects.

ThisWebQuest has been designed as a major module or unit of study in a senior Visual Arts course.  Goals and objectives have been adapted for Saskatchewan's Evergreen Curriculum, from an Arts Education 10,20,30 module (Module 7) entitled Global Connections.  This WebQuest has been designed by Mr. Ryan Flood to be used in a Drawing and Painting 20/30 course at Martin Collegiate in Regina.
