Students will create a map of a new city, including important places and using key elements. They will then find out how far their city is from where we live.

Teacher Introduction

The ability to read maps is a skill that every person should have.  Even though we are in the middle of a very technological era, there are places where GPS's and other electronic devices to do receive an accurate signal.

I have designed this lesson to encourage map reading through a fun activity of map making.
