Introduction
This lesson titled "Career Island", basically is an exercise for students to explore careers in selected industries. One of the nice features of this Webquest is that it provides links to some really great career websites for general and specific career information.
LESSON TITLE
Exploring Career Island
Grade Level
High School grades 9-12
Curriculum Areas
Language Arts, Computer and Information Literacy, Career Education and Consumer Family Life Skills. It also can be used for related services areas such as Speech/Language or ESL.
Goal/Purpose
For students to become aware of different career areas and resources through a " hands on" exercise in career exploration .
Objectives
After completion of this exercise the student will:
- Be able to use the internet as a research tool.
- Be able to organize information in order to make a presentation.
- Be able to access information related to career exploration.
- Communicate information to a group.
Length of Lesson
One week: One or two class periods for research and one or two days for creating the PowerPoint presentation and the balance for making the presentations.

Computer access with internet capability, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
Prerequisite Skills
Basic knowledge in using the Internet and Microsoft Powerpoint.
