Teacher Process

Given the level of students that I designed this WebQuest for, I have decided that one class period in front of the computers is all that is necessary.  This should give the students enough time in front of the computers to answer the questions that they have been assigned and check with one another to make sure that the information is correct.

I set up the groups the day before when I introduced the WebQuest in the classroom after spending part of that class period talking about totalitarianism and what it means to be a dictator.

I have then set aside a second class period to allow the expert groups to meet and then for the topic groups to reassemble to assess the information that everyone has gathered.  The vote as to whom is the best (or worst) dictator of the Inter-War period should also happen toward the end of class.

Then at the very end of class, I would allow 5 - 10 minutes to have the students do some peer evaluation.  If you have not done this with your students before you may need extra time to go over what goes into a good peer evaluation.

Feel free to cut down the number of dictators that you look at if your class size limits that.

Enjoy.  If you have suggestions, please do not hesitate to offer them to me at dboyle@triton.info.
